The long awaited Spokesman-Review technology page will debut May 12. It is scheduled to appear weekly after that.

Small Business Month – Where America Works
Spokane’s Business Information Center (BIC), sponsored by the SBA, kicks off Small Business Month on May 1. Subtitled “Where America Works,” Small Business Month includes many and diverse activities. All activities are listed on the special web site found at www.smallbusinessSpokane.org. Click on Calendars.

Gonzaga Business Plan Competition Winners
Winners of the Business Plan Competition will be announced at the Hogan Program reception at 4:30 pm, May 3, at the Jepson center. Finalists and their business ideas are: Biopol, Inc.; Paul Condrat; Bridal Bliss: Nora Totonchy and Julia Schwab; Exchange Northwest; Paul Condrat and Joe Smith; Milk MOOvers; Amber Anderson, Evan Castiglia, Katie Englund, Christi Anne Hofland, and David Robinson; and Traceless Outdoor Equipment; Julia Bauler, Peter Daniel, Brittany French, Elliott Golnar, David Saar.

Technet Entrepreneurial Boot Camp
Technet’s first-ever, quarterly Entrepreneurial Boot Camp will help entrepreneurs perfect their business plans. This intense, one-day camp is designed for businesses or start-ups that have developed a business plan and have an executive summary. A committee made up of area experts will hear presentations, review information and provide evaluations. Location: SIRTI Boardroom, 665 N. Riverpoint Blvd., Spokane, WA. Issues and Challenges Facing Small Business Today
On May 16, the Spokane Regional Chamber, SCORE volunteers, and AHANA will present this roundtable discussion. Subjects addressed will include accounting, marketing, staffing, and more. The Roundtable will be held at the SRBC from 5:30 to 7pm. The event is free, but register with the Spokane Regional Chamber.

Olympic Skills for Managers and Business Owners
The Inland Northwest Chapter of the National Association of Women Business Owners (NAWBO), the Asbell Professional Group, and the Business Information Center (BIC) will present the workshop "Olympic Skills for Managers and Business Owners." Psychologist Dr Laura Asbell will explain how to turn the same skills used by leading athletes into business gold. Dr. Asbell is Principal of the Asbell Professional Group. The workshop will be Thursday, May 23, at 12:00 noon to 1:00 at the SRBC conference room on the main floor. The SRBC is at 801 W Riverside. It will be a brown bag session with beverages provided. WSU Spokane Has New Department
The Health Policy & Administration Program has been named a full and independent department at the Spokane Campus of WSU. This is the first independent department to be housed at any of the WSU branch campuses. The importance of this new department speaks to the sizable health care industry sector here, much of which is housed in the Terabyte Triangle.

WSU Announces Summer Course List
WSU’s summer course schedule has been published and includes several technology courses needed for entry into Master of Technology Management program. Courses available include: Financial and Managerial Accounting (Acctg 550), Embedded Linux (Cpt Sci 483), Business Analysis (Dec Sci 451), Performance Management (Eng Mgmt 575), Biostatistics and Epidemiology (HPA 599), and Technology and New Product Marketing (Mktg 561).
