03/31/2009 - Terabyte Triangle Slates Web Upgrade

The Terabyte Triangle started over ten years ago as an economic development initiative. The founders knew about the rich optical fiber resources available in downtown Spokane, and the abundantly available attractive office space was all too apparent. Downtown Spokane needed new, clean industry, and the emerging computing technology industry and its allied technical services seemed tailor made. Although many believed the Terabyte Triangle owned infrastructure, the organization dealt only in information - designed to "get the word out" about Spokane's many assets.

The Terabyte Triangle is a volunteer organization -- its accomplishments must be worked around a small group of activists ‘regular jobs.’ Also, the Terabyte Triangle is not richly funded, yet its accomplishments have had major financial impacts. Accomplishments include spearheading Spokane's entry into, and the winning of, America’s most "intelligent" city award for two years in a row. It also helped win the 'All American City' award. It has helped recruit businesses into Spokane, and home grown businesses to expand. It sponsors this newsletter and the Terabyte Triangle Web site.

As a volunteer and generally low budget organization, the Terabyte Triangle often doesn’t move quickly. A Web site upgrade has been needed for some time. The previous one was designed in 2001; although it had many advanced features for that time, some needs have grown and changed over the intervening years. Thanks to our long time sponsors Alt29 Design Group and Interlink Advantage, an upgrade is now on its way. For a preview of the graphic design, visit http://proofs.alt29.com/tt/. The Terabyte Triangle logo remains the same. The new border is a “triangular” circuit board complete with edge connectors designed by the team at Alt29. It is the same design being used in the new border of the newsletter. The Web site’s new content is now under construction by the team at the Spokane Downtown Partnership. One upgrade being programmed now is a searchable database of the more than 500 stories now archived in the “news” portion of the site. The Terabyte Triangle Web site has always been search engine optimized - that will not change.

Alt29 is designing and programming the new Web site. Interlink Advantage is the site’s host. Alt29 specializes in "all things web." They do custom site designs; refresh current designs, shopping carts, Content Management Systems, site functionality upgrades, and Search Engine Optimization. They are fluent in many popular programming languages, and happy to take on small to large scale Web projects. To see some other Alt29 work, visit www.alt29design.com/web_portfolio.php.
