Tincan Summer Teacher Science and Technology Programs Now Recruiting
The dates for Tincan's 2008 National Science Foundation-funded summer teacher workshops have been set. The workshops give middle and high school science and technology teachers the tools to bring science alive to a new generation of students. The 2008 workshops have been updated to include time for teacher curriculum development and a hands- on practicum with local students. Teachers receive a stipend for participation, and travel, food, and lodging are paid. Teachers may take more than one workshop.

SCORE Seeks Chair
SCORE, Counselors to America's Small Business, an all volunteer non-profit association, is looking for a chair for the Spokane chapter. The candidate will have a business/management background; can be retired or still active, but must have the time and energy to devote approximately 20 hours a month to directing the efforts of the chapter in the areas of client counseling appointments, workshops, community presentations, and chapter administration. Gary Flood Appointed to Sirti Board of Directors
Gary Flood, President and CEO of ReliOn, has been appointed by Governor Chris Gregoire to serve a three year term on the Sirti board of directors. Mr. Flood is the President and Chief Executive Officer of ReliOn, a leader in the development and marketing of modular Proton Exchange Membrane fuel cell products based in Spokane. Prior to joining ReliOn in 2003, Flood served as CEO of Metawave Communications Corporation, an infrastructure manufacturing company producing products for the mobile Wireless telecommunications industry. Mr. Flood has over 24 years of experience in the design, development, management and marketing of communications systems for commercial and government applications, and has worked extensively in both domestic and international markets. Flood holds a B.S. in Electronic Engineering from California Polytechnic State University.
