New Signs Go Up at Sirti
News signs featuring Sirti’s new name and logo are going up on the Riverpoint Campus. The new sign on the Spokane Falls Boulevard side of the Sirti building will make it especially easy for visitors. The remaining signs should be up soon.

Sirti and Gonzaga School of Law Announce Sirti IP/BizNet Legal Services
Sirti has a new IP/BizNet legal services program. This service includes the research and acquisition of intellectual property such as patent, trademark and copyright protection as well as business contracts and employee agreements. Sirti clients will work with Gonzaga University law student who will in turn be supervised by attorneys at local law firms that focus on business and/or intellectual property law. There is little or no cost for these services for Sirti clients.

SLUG (Spokane Linux Users Group)

INMUG Presents Dreamweaver SPRY Framework (1.6)
Thursday January 17, 2008, 6:30 – 8:30 pm. INMUG kicks off 2008 with a presentation on using the SPRY Framework for AJAX. Spry is a JavaScript library of components and behaviors that enable web designers and developers to quickly and cleanly add rich interactive functionality to web sites and applications. Stacey Roestel, a software engineer for Inland Northwest Health Services (INHS) and a part-time Flash instructor at Eastern Washington University (EWU), will lecture and demonstrate how to utilize the SPRY widgets, data, and effects to enable a more efficient designer-developer workflow using any back-end application logic. Michael Haig - Whitestone Winery – Lake Roosevelt region. Winner of the Concordance Gold award, the highest honor at the prestigious Indianapolis International Wine Competition.
Charles Hoppes - Fidélitas Winery – Badger Canyon near Benton City, WA. His entrepreneurial spirit and courage earned him the distinction of being Eastern Washington University’s 2006 Entrepreneur of the Year.
C. Thomas Thompson – Napa Valley – Thomas and Stella Thompson run a small wine grape business growing cabernet grapes.

Miller.whiterunkle Acquired by Bellevue-based Ascentium
For anyone who may have missed the December 17 announcement: Ascentium Corp., a Bellevue, Wash.-based marketing and technology consulting company has acquired Spokane advertising agency miller.whiterunkle for an undisclosed sum. Ascentium, a privately held entity founded six years ago, employs more than 400 people and has offices in downtown Spokane’s Legion Building and in Portland, Ore.; Los Angeles; Austin, Texas; and Baltimore, in addition to its Bellevue headquarters. Miller.whiterunkle was founded 27 years ago and employs about 36 people in offices in Spokane, Seattle, and Atlanta. Its clients include Motorola, McDonald's, AT&T/Cingular, and Henry Weinhard's. For now, it will continue to operate under the miller.whiterunkle name, but as a unit of Ascentium. Based on current projections, the combined company's revenues for this year will exceed $55 million.
