04/30/2007 - PacifiCAD Expands in Steam Plant

PacifiCAD has grown significantly since they moved into the Steam Plant in 2005. They have expanded and added a whole new consulting service department. PacifiCAD now occupies the entire third level and half of the second level of the Steam Plant – including the entire two-story coal bunker.

PacifiCAD is a CAD (computer assisted design) software provider -- featuring CAD products for mechanical, architectural, civil and general CAD requirements. They are an Autodesk authorized reseller for all of Autodesk’s CAD products including civil engineering, manufacturing design, and architecture design. Along with the software, PacifiCAD provides training, technical support, and customer service for Autodesk. They resell to both commercial and government clients. Their new consulting services are very much in demand, according to Ellie Ellison, marketing/training coordinator.

At PacifiCAD, customer service is the backbone of the company, according to Ellison. Their customer service is so good that they were recently inducted into the Autodesk Inc., Platinum Club 2006. This is “an elite group recognized for top sales performance and outstanding customer service in fiscal year 2006.” PacifiCAD is very honored to be included in this elite group, according to Ellison.

Autodesk 2008 has just been released and the technical team at PacifiCAD has completed their training on the 2D and 3D design software. They are excited about the newest release and are ready to train their clients on the Autodesk 2008 in their coal bunker training rooms. Out-of-town clients are offered rooms at the Davenport, thanks to a partnership between PacifiCAD and the Davenport hotel. At break time during training, the client may spend a little downtime in the Coal Bunker break room with its pool table and walls covered with a unique and creative mural by Charlie Schmidt.

“We are very comfortable here in the Steam Plant,” says Ellison. “Visiting engineers are always in awe of this ‘cool’ space.” PacifiCAD’s various divisions are united by the same interior design and color schemes – even if they are separated on different levels. Each division has a small conference room and a break room.

PacifiCAD is a leader in sustainability according to Ellison. They are committed to being environmentally friendly and to help stem environmental hazards. Because of that commitment, they are moving their Boise office just because the developer of the new building has made it a leader in sustainability.

PacifiCAD will roll out a new Web site soon. For more information about PacifiCAD, visit
