SIRTI Offers Tours of New Technology Center Building
Construction on the Spokane Intercollegiate Research and Technology Institute (SIRTI) Technology Center (STC) is close to completion, and the building is currently available for tours. Located at the corner of Pine and the extension of Riverside Avenue, the new two-story facility offers 39,100 square foot of space dedicated to clinical research and commercialization of technology for the greater Spokane market. Pondera Engineers, LLC Signs Landmark Lease at SIRTI Technology Center
Pondera Engineers LLC, a Spokane based technology firm, recently announced it had signed a lease with SIRTI to relocate its growing operations to the new SIRTI Technology Center. “We have had a successful tenure as a startup at SIRTI, but we need room to grow,” says Mike Dolan, managing partner of Pondera, “In the last year, we have substantially exceeded even our highest revenue expectations. We are delighted to sign on as SIRTI’s first tenant in such a quality facility as the STC.” Pondera will initially take 1,000 square feet at the STC. It anticipates expanding to 1,500 sf within six months.

Pondera Engineers creates transmission and substation design software for the utility industry. The company formed in August 2004 as a spin-off of Spokane-based technology firm Itron, whereby Pondera obtained several product lines of Itron’s power delivery software. Its engineers are all veterans of utility engineering and software design and were the key players in the creation of Itron’s power delivery software. Dolan added that Pondera is planning to hire more programmers and engineers in the coming year to complete the release of two new software products. GenPrime Takes More Space
GenPrime Inc has recently expanded its office and lab space in the Holly Mason Building in the Terabyte Triangle. The biotech company was founded in 1997 with a focus on improving quality control in processes dependent on total viable organism counts. GenPrime’s microbiological testing technology primarily serves the markets of homeland security, fermentation, and the dairy industries. This expansion of the company can be credited to its recent success in acquiring major contracts for its testing products. Two of the major contracts are with TYCO Industries and the United States Postal Inspection Service, who will be using GenPrime’s Prime Alert testing kit to ensure the safety of mail from biological agents.

These major sales have called for a ramp up of GenPrime’s production. To accommodate this increase, GenPrime increased its personnel from nine last year to sixteen this year. This expansion represents the biggest growth spurt in company history. The new 3,000 square foot office and lab space in the Holley Mason basement was acquired earlier to accommodate this increase in product and personnel. GenPrime will use this space as a production area and a sterile filling lab. The new space will be added to GenPrime’s existing 3,700 square feet of office space on the building’s top floor.
