05/31/2005 - SpokaneHotZone(sm) Heats Up for Summer

The SpokaneHotZone(sm) promises to be even hotter this summer. The downtown SpokaneHotZone(sm) Caf?, located in River Park Square?s 3rd floor Atrium Cafes near the AMC Theaters box office, will have its official ribbon cutting and reception for invited guests soon. News of the launch should break in the second week of June. Use of the HotZone is free at the caf?. To use the Cafe, bring your own laptop or use the ones provided. (Thanks go to WhiteRunkle for the caf? design and to Sherry Johnson at River Park Square and her team for construction activities and the prime location.)

SpokaneHotZone(sm) will also team up with Hoopfest again this year. Players and spectators will have free wireless access and even streaming video from selected downtown locations.

Those downtown locations include a wide variety of eateries and coffee shops that offer outdoor seating. The Downtown Spokane Partnership/Business Improvement District (DSP/BID) promises that there will be about a half dozen new outdoor seating areas this year. This means that you can take your laptop or PDA to any of more than 30 downtown establishments and surf the net or get some work done while enjoying fresh air and the food and drink of your choice. Any Wi-Fi enabled computer, portable or hand-held device using the wireless protocol 802.11b can connect for free for up to two hours per day.

In addition, the DSP/BID will be doing promotional giveaways when you use the outdoor wireless cafes with your laptop or PDA. To learn details, check the Inlander?s Summer Guide or visit SpokaneHotZone.com, or downtown.Spokane.
