03/31/2005 - Changes to Terabyte Triangle Newsletter

Thanks to reader requests, the increasing pace of events, and needs voiced by the Terabyte Triangle Board, the Terabyte Triangle Newsletter will make evolutionary changes during April. Some things will not change. The story mix and the lean, mean, no-nonsense text and simple, portable HTML will stay the same.

One request was for a shorter, more frequent newsletter. Beginning mid-April, the Terabyte Triangle Newsletter will publish two times each month. Each newsletter will be shorter than this one, but the story mix will be the same. Each newsletter will contain articles, Tidbits, and announcements.

Beginning in April, the newsletter will add two sponsors per issue. This will provide a new opportunity for interested companies to reach the tech savvy readers of the Terabyte Triangle News. Sponsors may have advertising in two different spots. There will be a masthead ad spot, just below the contents of the issue, and a midway ad spot just below the stories but before the Tidbits. The ads will be simple – no banner ads. The cost details and contact information will be posted on the Terabyte Triangle Web site as they become available (www.terabytetriangle.org).

The “new” Terabyte Triangle Newsletter may be received in one of two different forms – the “printer friendly edition” (PFE) or the “quick scan edition” (QSE). The subscribers will be able to choose which version they prefer. The subscribers' choice may be made through the Terabyte Triangle Web site, and will not be ready for input until later in April.

The “printer friendly edition” (PFE) is exactly like this one – text or simple HTML with the full text of each story and the Tidbits. This is easy to print and read as hard copy if the reader wants. This form will remain the default version.

The “quick scan edition” is for quick scanning readers. Each story will contain only a lead paragraph or two in text, and then it cuts over to the Terabyte Triangle Web site for the full version.
