07/30/2004 - WSU Spokane Now Enrolling for Fall

Washington State University Spokane is now enrolling students for courses starting Monday, August 23, 2004. Courses of special interest to the technology community include those being taught in the Master of Engineering Management program and the Master of Technology Management.

The Master of Engineering Management program is an interdisciplinary master's degree program tailored to the needs of practicing engineers and scientists. It is designed to enhance management skills while updating disciplinary depth, and courses are scheduled at convenient times for working professionals. There are non-thesis options available.

The following list of course is available in Engineering Mangement (EM).
E M 501 Management of Organizations 3 Exploration of issues related to individual behavior in work organizations, including motivation, leadership, team-building, and team management skills
E M 505 Financial Management for Engineers 3 Time value of money, capital budgeting, accounting principals, cost valuation, risk, cost accounting and sensitivity analyses: concepts for engineering decision making.
E M 530 Applications of Constraints Management 3 Graduate-level counterpart of E M 430; additional requirements. Credit not granted for both E M 430 and 530.
E M 560 Integrated Supply Chain Management 3 Analyzing and managing the flow of materials, services, and information for products from inception to final customer for technical managers.
E M 575 Performance Management in Technical Organizations 3 Rec MgtOp 501. Management of high technology organizations; planning, measurement, and human factors in improving high technology organizations; productivity, motivation and performance systems.
E M 580 Quality Control and Reliability Design 3 Quality improvement analysis for process and product quality; statistical process control; capability studies; acceptance sampling concepts; reliability models for predictions and testing.

The Master of Technology Management is a graduate business degree that focuses on the management of strategy, innovation, and technology. This curriculum prepares graduates for a leadership role in technology-oriented business functions or industries. WSU College of Business and Economics is AACSB-accredited.

The following list of course is available in Master of Technology Management (MgtOp)
MGTOP 583 (Mgt) Organization Design 3 Development and design of contemporary systems of organization and management.
MGTOP 593 (Mgt) Managerial Leadership and Productivity 3 Organizational behavior and human motivation in the workplace; organization and leadership theories, studies, projects and models leading to improved productivity.
MGTOP 702 (Mgt) Master's Special Problems, Directed Study, and/or Examination Variable credit. S, F grading.

Management Information Systems (MIS)
MIS 572 Database Management Systems 3 Prereq admission to MBA program. Database management, data modeling, system design and implementation; the application of DBMS technologies to organizational and business problems.
MIS 580 Information Systems Management 3 Data processing organization; operations, application development, computer selection, management of computer personnel and systems.
