12/23/2002 - InStat Gets the Numbers

Public relations and out-reach campaigns -- whether sent by surface mail or e-mail -- are designed to capture the attention and imagination of the receiver. With surface mail, there is no way to monitor how the piece is received, but with HTML e-mail, there is now a way to track the numbers. A Perfect Web’s new tracking software, InStat, is designed to get the statistics --- the actual numbers of people who at least look at the campaigns. “InStat gives people a real window into their digital campaigns -- especially e-mail campaigns,” says Brandon Tanner, A Perfect Web CEO.

InStat is the newest addition to A Perfect Web’s InSuite software. A value-added product that works with InContact and InControl, InStat tracks Web site statistics and e-mail statistics. For example, the Spokane Regional Chamber of Commerce, who works closely with A Perfect Web, sends an e-mail newsletter. Using InStat, they can learn how many people either opened or forwarded the newsletter. InStat can track the number of people who clicked on the sponsors and other links within the newsletter, and it can track what specific pages were opened in the linked Web site. InStat will also show whether the end user found the Web site through a search engine or a link. Either InContact or InControl is used for viewing the statistics generated using InStat and is the interface for instructing InStat what to look for.

Instructions for InStat are easy to set up because the graphic user interface (GUI) with InContact is simple, clean, and attractive. The user simply enters the title of the campaign being tracked, and the date, and tells the program to begin. InStat can handle multiple campaigns --- as many as are needed. Multiple campaigns with different titles can be on the same date, or they may have the same title but sent on different dates. InControl can use InStat to watch people opening e-mails in real time. Alternatively, an internal clock can be set for a specific time, and all of the numbers will run at that time.

The addition of InStat was one of the major factors that convinced America’s PowerSport to sign a contract worth at least $24,000 with A Perfect Web. Thirty companies are using InContact and InControl at this time. Twelve of these companies are national; the others are local. InSuite is especially popular with local non-profits.
